Hoodia Scams

Hoodia - Hoodia Gordonii - IGFJust because it says Hoodia, does not mean that it is real nor effective

Having researched the market and found that more than 75% of all Hoodia gordonii products are fake we have taken it upon our self as a South African based company to inform consumers on which Hoodia gordonii brands they can trust. Our main aim in providing this authentication service is to ensure that REAL Hoodia gordonii retains a place in the market and that the consumer is well informed to purchase the correct Hoodia gordonii products with maximum effect and not to be tired by using the fake inferior Hoodia gordonii products and as such creates a bad name for the Hoodia gordonii market presenting a possible threat to the longevity of the Hoodia gordonii market as such. There are many a few honest Hoodia gordonii farmers who stand to risk all their investment if this behavior continues. The Hoodia consumer must be educated on which Hoodia gordonii products he can trust in order to facilitate a continuous beneficial world wide environment for the REAL Hoodia gordonii material to be circulated and for the intended market to receive maximum benefit from this truly miraculous plant.

Many farmers have invested against all odds into the sustainable growing of Hoodia gordonii. They mostly grow the Hoodia in dry arid regions of South Africa. Most if not all of this Hoodia crop will only be available for the international Hoodia gordonii market in end 2007. Many Hoodia farmers are currently pre-contracting their crop for a small investment to secure Hoodia delivery and promote sustainability. Interested parties can contact us for information regarding legal Hoodia farmers and as such help secure their investment.

Currently 99% of all Hoodia gordonii on the market is wild crafted Hoodia material. Hoodia gordonii as protected species has many limitations concerning collecting the species in the wild. Currently the only body issuing limited Hoodia gordonii wild crafting / or Hoodia collection permits is the Western Cape Nature Conservation (WCNC). Further more a CITES certificate is needed for exporting Hoodia gordonii from South Africa. Thus even in this truth yet another Hoodia gordonii fallacy is exposed. Kalahari Hoodia gordonii doesn't exist on the market simply because the region in which the Kalahari is (Northern Cape) does not allow for the collection or wild crafting of Hoodia gordonii. Nor does it allow the export of Hoodia gordonii from its province. Thus in short all who claim to have Kalahari Hoodia gordonii ether has the fake Hoodia (saw dust, starch powder, oppuntia, senna leaves or as has been brought to our attention, possibly even hallucinogenic cactus). Any one who has real Hoodia gordonii from the Kalahari is breaking the law and can as such be persecuted under the bio-terorism act for possessing illegal Hoodia gordonii.

The current shortage of Hoodia gordonii on the market is due to exactly this fact. Many unscrupulous individuals and companies have taken it upon themselves to either steal the Hoodia gordonii from the wild or to get licensing from WCNC with false intensions as not to abide by the Hoodia gordonii harvesting regulations and to over harvest. It is due the aforementioned that Hoodia gordonii harvest licensing is extremely scarce and we would even go as far as to say that the Hoodia harvest licensing is almost extinct. Thus retailers and consumers has the responsibility to protect this vulnerable environment under which Hoodia gordonii is made available to the public at present until Hoodia crops are available in feasible quantities to cary the international Hoodia market. The way in which to protect this miracle plant named Hoodia as we have come to know it is by only purchasing from wholesaler, retailers and outlets who supply evidence of legal import of Hoodia gordonii and further also from the ones who passed the independent tests.

Companies that hop on the bandwagon and sadly even some prominent Hoodia outlet companies either use material that is not Hoodia gordonii or stretch the Hoodia material that they find into oblivion. As such the Hoodia is not even identifiable in their products. Luckily for the end consumer there is still a few verifiable companies that operate with a moralistic and ethical purpose in supplying the end consumer with real Hoodia gordonii material.
